PJF experience a long Saturday at Wimbledon RFC

But they did play some good rugby, eventually

PJF went to the Wimbledon 7s for the first time on Saturday. The tournament kicked off two hours late with PJF arriving at 9.30 but didn't have their first game until 11.30. The game against O Cliftonians was a close fought affair with PJF just coming off second best 12-17. Their followed a long and protracted wait for the second game because two of the sides in the PJF group were no shows which meant PJF progressed straight into the quarter final. Unfortunately the organisers seemed to be tied to their App for the tournament which meant that they could not be nimble in their thinking and rearrange the groups to even up the teams in each group. Anyway the second game kicked off at 3.30pm after a four hour wait. PJF showed that the sitting around hadn't done them any favours and they quickly slipped 0-5 behind. But PJF stormed back and after a great display of fluid 7s rugby, PJF ran out 35-15 victors with Kwesi and Ben Payne mopping up 5 tries between them. The next game came 40 minutes later. Again Ben Payne impressed but again PJF came up just short going down 12-17 for the second time in the afternoon. PJF played some good looking 7s but lacked a little sharpness to turn very close games into victories. Although it was somewhat frustrating to start with, the guys did get some enjoyment out of the afternoon.
